The more information you can provide up front will help streamline the proposal process. We encourage clients to visit our studio in Virginia when possible, where they can see numerous full size samples and finishes. There is no charge for a studio consultation.
We offer design services and consultation on an hourly basis which begins with a retainer. We are happy to quote a project based on the design of your architect or interior designer. Often the designer has rough sketches and ideas which need to be fleshed out. We often work closely with the designer in this phase which is in the best interest of the client.
In the consultation stage Cardine Studios will work with the client to value engineer the project to meet the client’s budget as far as possible. We often quote a job based on the design presented but are also very good at working the design back into the proposed budget. We are not trying to “sell” you something but trying to meet your needs and desires as far as possible. It is not uncommon for a design to have details which are labor intensive and we are willing to offer suggestions on how to modify the design details to meet a budget.
The schedule depends on the complexity of the project and our current work load. We provide an estimate for completion when the proposal is submitted and work with each client to meet their deadlines. For many of our clients the schedule is as important as quality and cost. There are many factors that go into scheduling a job and we work very hard to accommodate our client’s needs.
Once a contract is secured Cardine Studios will send a detailer to your location anywhere in the United States to measure and template the job. We use state of the art digital measuring systems for complex geometric projects which enables us to recreate the exact site condition in our shop.
Once the field measurements are taken we produce accurate design and shop drawings for approval. Sample sections and finishes are also provided as specified in the contract.
Some projects require a design development stage in which samples and drawings are generated for review. This process may require a separate design fee or may be folded into the overall project contract depending on the job.

We also incorporate wood, glass, and stone into many of our projects.
Cardine Studios offers a variety of expertly applied finishes. Our premium finish for interior work is hand rubbed wax and oil. We also do an extensive amount of patina finishes for all metals as well as metallic glazes and paint. Our exterior steel work is sandblasted, metalized and receives a high quality paint. We also offer rusted finishes for interior and exterior.
Cardine Studios often supplies railing balusters and panels as well as lighting and other items which can be installed by others. We provide detailed instructions to the installer and are available to consult the GC and installer through the install phase.
Cardine Studios is not competing with the low bidder. We offer expertly crafted work in a professional manner at a great value. We have saved our clients heart ache, time, and money because of our expertise and design experience. This value is difficult to appreciate when one is only considering the bottom line but often results in monetary savings.
There are no hidden costs and we stick to our price. We do not cut corners but do what is best for the job because we are craftsmen first and take pride in our work. Because of this approach we have many repeat clients who have used us for decades.
